Image of artist walking with antenna

I am an interdisciplinary artist and critical writer interested in the ways histories, public spaces, and forms of citizenship influence one another and shape the realm of political possibility. My recent work has focused on addressing and intervening in the formation of public memory and radical culture in the Midwest, where I've lived for ten years. Additional interests include radical media, particularly pirate radio and self-publishing, cultural geography, and social movements. I am currently working as an Assistant Professor of Intermedia in the School of Art and Art History at the University of Iowa. In my free time, I devise elaborate plans to turn a 1920s foursquare into a sustainable, permaculture-inspired homestead and take walks along Lake Macbride with my partner and collaborator, Nick Brown, and our dog, Asa.
