A People’s Atlas of Nuclear Colorado<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last fall, Shiloh Krupar and I released A People’s Atlas of Nuclear Colorado<\/a>, <\/em>a digital public humanities project bringing together artworks, essays, site descriptions, and issue briefs about the ongoing nuclear legacies in a state that is in many ways a microcosm of the larger domestic footprint of the U.S. nuclear weapons project. First Delta and Omicron frustrated our “book” release plans, but we did a few public talks (see this video of a panel at the Mortara Center<\/a> at Georgetown), have gotten some favorable reviews<\/a> (sorry for the paywall), and will be doing some further events in the fall in Denver, Boulder, and New York. Stay tuned…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shiloh Krupar and I step down as interim co-directors of the National Toxic Land\/Labor Conservation Service<\/a> in a recently released performative book chapter in Toxic Immanence<\/a><\/em> (edited by Livia Monnet, McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2022). We leave the agency where it started \u2013 as an improvisational thought experiment, a hopeful and hilarious vision of how government might operate differently \u2013 with gratitude for the brilliant conversations and thoughtful designs proposed by differently positioned nuclear communities over the last decade.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mostly due to the hard work and persistence of Ryan Griffis<\/a>, the artists’ booklets and prompt cards that were originally produced in 2019-2020 for the HKW’s Mississippi: An Anthropocene River<\/a> are now available online for viewing, download, or print purchase<\/a>. Great work by Corrine Teed<\/a>, Heather Parrish<\/a>, Nicholas Brown<\/a>, and Rozalinda Borcila<\/a>, as well as Ryan and myself. These books and cards were also exhibited in the 2021 Minnesota Museum of American Art Biennial<\/a> (along with other elements of our Anthropocene Field Station) and the exhibition The Overflow<\/a> at Chicago’s Co-Prosperity Sphere<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
